We had 26 people for my type one event yesterday. That's a lot lower than I expected and lower than my last 3 events so rather than give away the mox (as originally planned) and no other prizes, popular consensus was my plan B of:

Rich kinda demolishes B in the finals 2-0. No bad plays or anything but it just wasn't really close. Rich goes landstill-busted turn 1 game 1 with sapphire, factory, lotus, landstill. It went downhill from there. Game 2 saw Rich drop cotv @ 0 after B imperial seals for lotus turn 1.

Tournament starts 12:00 pm.
Registration runs from 11:00-11:50

Entry Fee: $15.00.

Prizes:

1st Place Prize: Unlimited Mox Pearl (in about fine condition)
2nd-4th Place prizes: Store Credit TBD by attendance (an average month is $120/70/70)

Tournament Format

The tournament will consist of rounds of swiss play (usually 6) followed by a single elimination top 8 playoff. Swiss rounds will be timed at 50 minutes each. Matches are played best 2/3.

Please note that deck lists will be required for this tournament. Please come with your lists already printed out.

About Proxies:

For this tournament all players are allowed 10 'proxy' cards with their entry fee. In addition, each player may pay 50 cents per card to proxy any number of additional cards beyond the 10 included with the entry fee. Proxy cards must be actual M:TG cards and must include all relevant card text for the card used, including casting cost. Please use basic lands with a light card face for your proxies. This makes it much easier for your opponent to read them.

The following forms of proxies are NOT accepted:

photocopies/print outs pasted on a card
slips of paper stuffed into a card sleeve
writing on the back of a card
collector's edition cards
world championship cards
or anything else that will either alter the thickness of the card or be too difficult to read.

This is an example of a legal proxy on a basic land:

These are good proxies on a peeled foil, even though I would prefer if they had the rules text. I make this exception only on P9 because everyone knows what they do and because they were drawn so pretty (Thanks JayC):

Turnout was a very healthy 38 for our type one tournament on September 17, duking it out for the following prizes:

There was a lot of talk of Hamilton domination around round 4 when the Trepaniers sat atop the standings as the sole 4-0s with two more Hamiltonians right behind them at 3-0-1, but in the end the prize goes to a TO native once again.
