What should you do on Family Day?

Catch up on your comic reading of course! On this Monday's Family Day, Big B comics will be closed. So come by this weekend and stock up on your comics and trades to fill your day off with comic joy. This week had a nice mix of something for everyone. Ed Brubaker's Incognito draws us deeper into Zack Overkill's world of living unrestrained as a former Supervillain, while Thor's return to its original numbering changes the political landscape of Asgard big time as Loki shows her hand. DC brought us Batman #686; Part 1 of Neil Gaiman's Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader which will conclude in the next issue of Detective Comics in which Batman's friends and villains tell their own stories of our fallen bat. Gears of War #4 was also released, bringing us more non-stop action from the cogs. And for trades, Batman RIP came out in hardcover, so fans who didn't want to collect the single issues can enjoy Grant Morrison's definitive run on the series. For years, Alan Moore's run Swamp Thing has been lauded as the series that launched his career and introduced us to John Constantine, the star of his own series Hellblazer. The first act of Moore's run has now been collected in hardcover for the first time ever, the first of which compiles issues #20-27 of his run. That's it for this update, my dear comic fans! Remember, we're closed on Family Day, so drop by this weekend and stock up. Don't get caught unprepared and bored on Monday!
Oldies but Goodies

A great batch of new comics and graphic novels arrived yesterday. For me the highlights were Thor #600, Incognito #2, the Red Hulk Vol 1graphic novel and the All-Star Superman Vol 2 graphic novel. Your tastes may be different so we suggest you drop by the shop and peruse all the fresh new arrivals yourself.
We just priced up a choice batch of old comics including a solid copy of Tales to Astonish #27 (1st Ant-Man and one of only three 10 cent Marvels with a hero in it, the other two being FF #1 and #2). Other tidbits in the pile included Adventures of the Fly #1, Atom #29, some nice Spideys including a high grade #300, a Dell JFK comic and a bunch of others. They're all priced up and out in the bins. Also in is a very nice Mickey Mouse Story Book from 1931 and a beautiful copy of Bringing Up Father #19 also from 1931. Yet unpriced is a nice X-Men run from #124 to #200 and a Spidey Run from #140 to about #340. These should be in the bins by next week.
What is a Conflux?

Well met, my comic and game loving friends. It turns out that not only is a conflux a meeting of two rivers or streams, Conflux is also the name of the latest Magic: The Gathering Expansion now in stock at Big B! We've got starter decks, fat packs, booster packs and booster boxes on hand for all you players out there. The set looks to be just as good as Shards of Alara, with its continued focus on prismatic cards and showy planeswalkers. We also hope that you found the time to browse this week's comic offerings, as they were incredible as usual. The revelation at the end of Secret Warriors #1 will have a massive impact on the future of the Marvel universe and cast a shadow over its past. Deadpool #7 of course, continues with its stylish combination of humor and violence to put out some of the greatest Deadpool in years. While on the DC side of things, Final Crisis Legion of Three Worlds was another impressive issue with the combined Legions making their stand and Superboy Prime and Superman duking it out. DC also has a surprising dark horse in the form of its Tiny Titans trade. While geared at our younger readers, Tiny Titan's sharp writing is drawing in fans young and old! Next week, be prepared for an even better selection of titles to hit the racks! Incognito #2, Thor #600, Angel #17 and The Walking Dead #58 are just some of the titles coming in. Ben 10 and other news

Highlights from this weeks comics and graphic novel arrivals include Scott Pilgrim Vol. 5, Buffy the Vampire Slayer #22, Deadpool #7 and Secret Warriors #1. Of course there's tons more that came in but we'll leave it up to you to make it into the shop and have a peruse. 
February's Informer has just hit the front counter. This is the annual Love issue so it's loaded with love stuff. There's also an announcement on page 3 about an upcoming Hamilton Bulldogs hockey game that Big B Comics is promoting. Saturday March 14th will be super hero night at Copps Coliseum. All who attend the game in a super hero custume will be allowed on the ice after the game for a free skate. Tickets are available here at the store for only $15.00. It's an ideal family outing and a great place for a date. Just ask us if you need more details.
We finally received our shipment of the new Ben10 toys. Humungousaur and Chromastone come in giant bubble packs while Swampfire and Chromastone on Beast come in nice box sets. These are great new toys from Bandai. Other new toys that came in today include the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise 16 inch Starship, G.I. Joe 2 Packs, Final Fantasy VII Play Art V2 Sephiroth action figures and the New Gods Series 2 ction Figures fron DC Direct.
