This year at Big B we are doing something new and something we hope will be the start of a long tradition. In partnership with Wesley Urban Ministries and CATCH (Community Access to Child Health), we are going to be running a toy drive at the store from now until mid December. As many of you already know, the economy has hit Hamilton pretty hard the last few years and as a result there are a lot of underprivileged families in this city that rely on the generosity of others to get by.  We are trying to do our part and we hope that you will join us.

So, here is what we are looking for. New, unwrapped toys, for boys and girls, from newborns to 16 years of age. Nothing used or opened, and nothing adult or overly violent. Here are some ideas to guide you:

  • Interactive age appropriate toys, dolls and action figures
  • Currently popular themed toys (Transformers, Hannah Montana, etc)
  • Board Games
  • Remote Control toys
  • Constructibles (Lego, K’nex, Megablocks, etc)
  • G-Rated or Family rated Movies
  • Play-Doh, Crayola and Craft Sets
  • Batteries (great to include with a gift that requires batteries)
  • Sports Equipment
  • Comics!

As a thank you to anyone that wants to help, and perhaps a little nudge for those in need of one, we will offer $1 off  of any purchase here at Big B for all those bringing in donations. If that’s not enough to get you in the spirit, I offer the majesty of a man who embodies the spirit of Christmas, and who in fact passed away on Christmas Day 2006.
