We have asked you before who your favorite publisher is (in case you missed it Marvel won with a pretty good lead, and you can see it here). But this is a little different, I am curious who you are the most excited or optimistic about in 2013. We are just going to look at 5 of the most popular publishers today, so in alphabetical order we have:
Dark Horse is going all out with Star Wars, as reported by Newsarama ” this isn’t a side-story or an esoteric voyage down a rabbit hole — this is all the classic characters from the original trilogy…set moments after the conclusion of A New Hope“.
DC is wrapping up some great story arcs (Death of the Family, Rise of the Third Army, Rotworld) and is about to have Jim Lee and Scott Snyder teaming up with Superman (or maybe you’d rather read Scott Snyder with Sean Murphy in the new horror comic The Wake). And we also have Neil Gaiman be returning with a Sandman mini-series that is being drawn by J.H. Williams (technically done by Vertigo, but we are including it in DC).
IDW is continuing with G.I. Joe, TMNT, My Little Pony, Transformers, True Blood, Doctor Who, Star Trek, etc. Testing out some new series such as Vitriol the Hunter, Jinnrise, and Fever Ridge: A Tale of MacArthur’s Jungle War. As well as finishing up one of (in my opinion) their best series Locke & Key.
Image is going strong with The Walking Dead (ummm, Carl anyone?) and has some very interesting new series coming up (Pretty Deadly, Zed: A Cosmic Tale, Savage Skullkickers, Repossessed, and Five Weapons to name a few). Of course there is also the fantastic Invincible which will be wrapping up the “The Death of Everyone” story arc.
Marvel has Now! which has brought (and is still bringing) a bunch of new titles and re-numberings. Long awaited comic Age of Ultron is coming and will tie into Fantastic Four and Superior Spider-Man.
